Learning Outcome 1
Throughout project number two, as well as this class as a whole, I have made specific changes to my writing in regards to both local and global revision. For example, meeting with both Anjana and peer reviews helped me in regards to local revisions by helping to correct my spelling, grammar, and punctuation usage. I have always struggled with spelling as well as the use of commas, colons, and semi colons, so it was very helpful when those in my group made suggestions about these things. Specifically, during project two I had several run on sentences that my group was able to spot and suggest that I break up into two sentences. This local revision helped me to make my paper more concise and prevented readers from getting confused while reading my essay. Additionally, during this project I received serval global revisions that helped to enhance my work. For starters, when meeting with Anjana she read over my paper and mentioned that she felt my conclusion did not fit in very well with the rest of my essay. After rereading my essay I also came to this same conclusion and she then helped me to re-work and change my conclusion to better support what I had already written. This helped to further the message of my essay and helped to make it flow better as a whole. Additionally, while writing this paper, I was struggling with creating connections between the two authors and finding quotes that worked well together. Due to this, I stayed after class and meet with my professor in order to get advice and have them read through my paper. This proved to be very helpful as they provided good global revisions and helped to spark an idea for my paper. Specially, my professor helped me to connect a Carr and a Turtle quote and explain how both authors talk about changes to our human experience. As a result of both these local and global revisions, my final draft looks very different then my first draft did, as my writing developed a lot during the process, but I feel as though my final draft is exponentially better due to the development that it went through in the drafting process.
