Throughout this class, my peer review process was very different than my peer review process in prior classes. In this class, I focused on more global revisions rather than local revisions like I had in the past. In prior classes, my review consisted mostly of spelling, grammar, and punctuation, however in this class it consisted on things such as sentence structure, evidence usage, and Barclays paragraphs. Specifically, my peer review process for this class consisted of me reading through the essay, starting by looking for a hook and a clear thesis statement, then moving on to each of the body paragraphs and looking at the format and how each quote was used and explained, then finally moving on to the conclusion to see if it ties everything together and provides a good exit from the essay. Some specifics I look for are how well the quotes are explained and how they tie in with other evidence, and then I make comments such as ” I think that this is a good analysis of the quote and I also like how you then talked about your own personal experience relating to the quote”, and say “I think that both examples and quotes are good but I would maybe write a little bit to tie them both together and explain how they relate”. Additionally, in other essays I made comments about paragraph and essay structure, specifically Barclays paragraphs, as this is what we were working on in class. I would make comments suggesting that they add in other sources to make it more of a Barclays style or add an explanation. Overall, although very different then my past processes, I think that the peer review process through this course taught me a lot about peer reviewing, and I will defiantly be using this form of more global revision in the future, as it provided very effective and helped me not only as a reviewer but also as an author.
